I really don't like snow days in the Sims. The bus still comes, and sometimes I miss canceling the actions of the children to get on it. Then I get all these notifications about them missing school if I do cancel it, and occasionally the children's grades will drop. In one particular instance, pretty much everyone in the house went to school on a snow day as I wasn't paying attention. They went to classes for a few hours before the game finally realized they weren't supposed to be there. Most of the kids went home, but I eventually found Edwin and Hershel just chilling out in front of the school's doors.
Kenneth spent the day off practicing his shooting using the soccer net Emmeline had bought with all the festival tickets the family had collected. She had enough tickets to buy some of the more expensive prizes, but there wasn't enough room in the yard for them.
The other children, like Elmira here, took advantage of the rest of the little yard room left to decorate it with snowmen and snow angels. An attempt at an igloo was made, but there simply wasn't enough space for it at the end of the day.
Edwin and Kenneth finally decided to start being helpful. Kenneth was having a good time with Estelle. He finished teaching her how to talk, and then tickled and chatted the afternoon away with her. Edwin, meanwhile, was cleaning up the nursery. Of course, things wouldn't go smoothly for him. He made attempt after attempt to put the toys away, but Kenneth refused to move from his sudden favorite spot in front of the toy box. Edwin could not get to it, and gave up.
Then it was birthday time for two people! One of the those birthdays was one of the big ones- Emmeline became an Elder. Her days of baby-were were truly and utterly done. All that was left to do was focusing on the children she had, and prepping Ella to take the reins.
The second birthday belonged to Estelle. She looked even more like Dayvid when she got older. With her becoming a child, that meant Eli had that whole big nursery all to himself.
And with Eli being the only child around during the day, in addition to all his toddler skills having been taught, Emmeline had some free time for herself for the first time in like...ever. She spent most of her hours relaxing, watching television, and painting. Emmeline also made frequent calls to Elwood, Adelaide, Peter, and Charlie.
Another Berry Sim I placed into Moonlight Falls made an appearance. Midnight Thistle came over after school one day due to an invitation from Elmira. Midnight is one of my more favorite Berry Sims, so it was nice to see her actually in-game.
The household was just settling into a new routine when it was time for the biggest shakeup yet to occur. With Ella's, Edwin's, and Kenneth's Young Adult birthday, that meant it was time to start working for the third generation! The triplets aged up very well. Edwin and Kenneth certainly took a lot after Tyler, and Ella proved to be gorgeous as always. You can download Ella here. Her traits are Loves the Outdoors, Grumpy, Charismatic, Genius, and Couch Potato.
I was faced with a dilemma though. It was time for Ella to start having children, but the house was full with all her younger siblings. Many of Emmeline's children were still young, so it felt wrong to move them out. However, that is what I ended up doing. I'm hardly playing this save by the rules, and I really wanted Ella to be able to start with a fresh slate, so to speak, for her attempt at having as many children as possible. To make me feel not as bad, I found a nice, big home for the rest of the family to live in. It ended up being on the same street as the original house, which made it even better. I kept Edwin and Kenneth in with Emmeline and their siblings just in case something happened to Emmeline before Hershel, Elmira, Estelle, and Eli grew up.
With the household reduced to Ella, it was time for the house itself to get a massive overhaul. The routing in the top part of the house remained terrible, and that elevator to the basement was annoying. It took everyone forever to get everywhere, so no one got anything of worth done. With Emmeline having saved up lots of happiness points, she was able to purchase a few Inheritance rewards before she moved out. This allowed me to give the house that upgrade it desperately needed. It's not a work of art (I'm really not good at all at building amazing homes), but I knew it would be a lot more efficient and easier for the Sims to do what they need to do.
This is a view to the right from just inside the front door. I put the toys for the older children in the little play area you see to give Ella optimum room in the nursery. Next to the play area is a little alcove of sorts which has a comfy spot for reading and a chess table for the occupants to practice their Logic. The room to the left of that is a bathroom, and the corner space to the very left contains the keyboard and a seating area. In the picture you can see the large staircase, which leads to the second level, and the smaller staircase, which leads to the basement. I thought it would be nice to keep most of the entertainment for the teens downstairs. One of the bedrooms is still down there as well. The other older children's bedroom is upstairs.
A left view from the front door provides a nice glance at the much more practical and spacious kitchen and dining area. This way the Sims aren't stepping all over trying to get a seat. You can also see the main television space in the corner. You'll notice the decoration is sparse as I was growing bored of being in Buy/Build mode for so long, and wanted to get on with the challenge.
You'll be acquainted with the rest of the house in the game-play shots. Most of the rooms have the same decoration and style anyway. Their shape and position in the house is just altered.
Ella took a leaf out of Emmeline's book, and went right away to the winter festival. It didn't take long before she found an appropriate male to be the father of her first children. Johnny Kinsey was a witch and (I didn't know it at the time) a merman. He and Ella got along fabulously.
But Elwood wasn't so pleased about Johnny being willing to get cozy with his little sister. Elwood came out of nowhere before walking and standing directly in between Ella and Johnny while they were trying to talk. Neither were that bothered. Elwood also knew he couldn't really get in the way of what had to be done, and went on his way soon enough.
Once they were friends, Ella invited Johnny over. They went into the new, and much nicer, master bedroom to get down to business. In the end, the successful baby jingle was heard.
Things didn't remain positive for long. As soon as the two were done, a notification popped up revealing that Johnny's elderly wife had just passed away. Ella tried to cheer him up, but there wasn't much that she could do. I felt bad for the guy until I realized he was kinda a gold digger. After he left Ella's house, he almost instantly attached him himself to Emmeline for crying out loud. The two married quickly afterwards. Given that Emmeline had a lot of money, a big house, and was steadily getting closer to passing away, I truly had to question this guy's motives.
That would be in the coming days though. Johnny left to "grieve", and the hungry Ella made herself a sandwich. I'm sure it was a strange experience eating it in that massive dining area alone when only that morning she had been surrounded by family and the house looked much different.
Wanting to earn the right to all the luxury Emmeline had given her that Emmeline herself had never had, Ella determinedly began setting up plans for her next pregnancy even though her first hadn't begun to show at all. She made a dating profile, and got to chatting to some of the men around town before heading to bed for a well deserved rest.
Hi Kelsey, is there more to this storie somewhere?
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the chapters can be found using the 100 Majesties Page under the Menu or the Archive sections in the left sidebar, but otherwise this is the most recent update. I posted it last night, but you can expect more soon. I have pictures for two more chapters ready to go, and it doesn't take long to put a post together :D
ReplyDeleteJohnny! You a**! Cheating on your elderly wife, who dies right after, and then immediately making moves on Ella's mum! *tsks* not a fan of this Johnny character.
