In addition to the Sims Challenges/Stories I post, I also occasionally post my own original works. Most of the time these stories come about as part of my yearly attempt at NaNoWriMo. This page is a list of all the chapter or excerpts I have posted so far of each novel as well as a short summary of each.
Found in Time
This is the story I did for NaNoWriMo 2012. Found in Time was inspired from a dream I had on February 27th, 2010. I can remember that date for the dream was so powerful and emotional that it left me in a kind of daze for the whole day. These chapters are not the best ones I have ever written. There is a lot of work that needs to be done on them. However, this is a story I love so much that I'm simply glad I took the time to finally start getting it out of my head and onto (digital) paper.
Chapter One- Main character nine-year-old Ella Bentley's little sister Sadie is born. Ella was happy to have a new sister until she realized the newborn has incredibly strong powers. Ella is the only one out of her family who has not inherited the magical powers that help them to keep the forces of Light and Shadow living in the forest surrounding their home in balance. After messing up badly in a game her and her other six siblings play, Ella has a lot of fun playing with the normal children in the town of Gale. However, her unloving great-grandfather sees this, and an idea begins to form within his mind.
Chapter Two- After her violin lesson and teasing her eldest brother Peter about his crush, Ella cleans the kitchen in order to be useful However, just as she is about to show off her hard work to her aunt Hattie all the mess mysteriously returns. She goes to ice skate with her bratty younger sister, Alma, who is upset Ella can skate better than her even without powers. She causes Ella to get badly hurt. Ella eventually has a fight with her family when her parents and Peter decided to leave to visit Brooke, Peter's crush, even if it means missing Ella's birthday. Her birthday goes terribly as Light and Shadow act up, and Leo secretly catches the birthday cake Ella tried to make for herself on fire.
Chapter Three- Ella feels unburdened when Henry, her great-grandfather, goes on a business trip. She works on her music composition to pass the time, but spots a blue figure in the forest and goes to investigate. Her older brother Charlie saves her when she is attacked by Shadow. Ella picks out a beautiful music box for Alma's birthday present while in town. She and Peter make up when he returns, but Ella feels down again when Alma doesn't like the music box.
Chapter Four- Ella decides to tell Peter about the blue figure, and they go into the forest to search around. However, Ella has to promise to forget about the figure when Peter learns she was attacked. Light later on attacks her, Hazel, and Alma while they play in the field. Ella is horribly upset when no one pays any attention to her after the attack. She and Peter fight again when Peter accuses her of hiding her feelings and Ella reveals she can't stand Peter talking about Brooke.
Chapter Five- Ella becomes very sick, and misses the trip to Gale. Peter chooses to stay with her, and they make up yet again. The family enjoys a game of Water Skate when the weather warms up. Things gets worse once again when Ella learns the adults blame her for Peter passing out and risking drowning. Henry brings up his idea after Ella returns to her room of wiping her memories and sending her to live with a "normal" family.
Chapter Six- The Bentleys meet Brooke and her family as they have come to enjoy Gale's Founder Festival. Ella is set to perform her violin in a musical performance. While she performs spectacularly, she is furious to find that Peter skipped the performance to spend more time with Brooke. After their fight, Ella convinces Edwin to take her home.
The following links are merely the excerpts I first posted of each chapter.
Tales of Lerathian: The Puppet
I first started NaNoWriMo in 2007. However, I started late with no solid story to work with. I was not able to reach 50,000 words, and thus 2007 is the only year thus far I have not won. I decided to change that in 2013 by rewriting that first story. I managed to hit approximately 107,000 words by the end of the month. This encouraged me to try to complete the story and one day get it published. The story is now in its second draft.

The Prologue- An Elvas woman, Mareiel, is killed by her own brother for marrying a Talmor man and having two daughters with him. Her death is felt her her children, but they find solace in the fact that the shield she set up to hide them from Elvas eyes remains in position even though she had now departed.
Chapter One- Fifteen years later, main character Elle and her family deal with their leaking roof during a large storm. Their work is cut short when five Elvas soldiers arrive explaining the death order has been lifted, and that Jân, herself, and Nika are invited to live in the Elvas capital. Elle does not want to go, but her father forces her to at least try living there for a little while for the sake of peace.
Chapter Two Excerpt- It is the night before the group reaches the capital. Elle and Nika are rightfully nervous, but Jân tries to comfort them by telling them about the city. He and Elle have a small quarrel before they head to bed. The siblings are awoken in the middle of the night by the magic bursts being set off in the city. Jân and Elle manage to make up.
Chapter Three Excerpt- Though some things have been tough in the capital for the past three weeks, Elle has made some friends who cheer her up. Unfortunately, she is attacked during a class outing. Elle refuses to have the attacker punished for fear doing so will only make her more hated. Her two friends tell her about the Blessed Moon festival, and Elle makes them doubt the reason they think the god Delmar refuses to show himself anymore.
Chapter Four Excerpt- Things have gone sour in the capital, and Jân, Elle, and Nika are fleeing as fast as they can. They stop in order to rest and gather food for lunch. Elle ends up being the target for a Dowark named Dié's lunch.
Chapter Fourteen Excerpt- After failing to fall asleep, Elle makes up with Jân over a moment of tension they had. The mood of the camp soon changes drastically when Dié starts an unexpected conversation.

You might have noticed the similarities between the two stories above- most obviously the similar names of "Ella" and "Elle", the presence of a stern great-grandfather, a protective older brother figure, and the main character feeling insecure when compared to the rest of her family. Most stories I write I never intend to make available for public reading. This held especially true for Tales of Lerathian for the longest. I never thought I would pick it up again, which is why I didn't worry when I gave Ella her name or put nearly identical plot elements into Found in Time. Well, now some of both stories are available. I ask that you do what you can to separate each tale in your head, and to overlook all the similarities for I tried to give both stories their own breath of life.
Can't wait for Chapter 7 of Found In Time!!!
