Tales of Lerathian: The Puppet (Chapter One Excerpt) (Revised 2016)

Going off the heels of releasing the revised prologue for Tales of Lerathian: The Puppet, I decided that I'd release a bit more of the new version of the story. Last time I released all of Chapter One, but this time around it's just going to be a short snippet. Even so, please check out the old so you can tell me what you think of the new!

Quite a while ago now, I posted the prologue, first chapter, and several excerpts from later chapters of the novel I've steadily been working on over the years. It came time to start working on the more cohesive second draft this November for NaNoWriMo, and the revised prologue is now completed. There are always more things in it that can use improvement, but I feel it is a step up from the original. If nothing else, it more accurately represents the character and plot lines now that I've had the time to develop both while writing the first draft. Take a read of the new version, check out the old, and let me know what you think.

Tales of Lerathian: The Puppet (Chapter Fourteen Excerpt)

Sorry for the lack of posts recently! I thought I would be able to squeeze in some small projects alongside my NaNoWriMo writing, but that unfortunately turned out not to be the case. I did manage to hit the 50,000 total though, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get at least the family tree for CMW and the short story I wanted to tell about Hunter and Eden out with my few extra free days. I've also decided to share with you this excerpt from Chapter Fourteen of my NaNo novel that I've been doing for the project for the past several years. I've finally almost finished it! It was difficult finding a passage to share that didn't really spoil anything, but I think this choice works rather well. It gives me a bit of a giggle. I hope it at least gives the rest of you a smile! Enjoy!

(I recommend reading the excerpts I've posted in the past so those unfamiliar with this story have at least a basic understanding of most of these characters.)

The Lucane Family in the Sims

(I would suggest to anyone who hasn't read the chapters and excerpts I've posted of my 2013 NaNoWriMo novel, Tales of Lerathian, to go and at least skim through the prologue to familiarize yourself with the characters you'll see in this post.)

I've been wanting to do this for a while now, and I've finally gotten around to doing it! This post is centered around the main family in my most recent NaNoWriMo novel who I decided to make Sim versions of. At first, I only wanted to create the house. However, I couldn't make the house and not have the ones who were supposed to reside there. So Alar, Mareiel, Jân, Elle, and Nika were Sim-ified!

Just a little note, I have not mentioned the surname of the family in the story yet. As you might be able to deduce from the title, the surname is Lucane.

First up is daddy Lucane- Alar! I created his name randomly in my head, and only afterwards found out it was an actual word. "Alar" means to have wings or to be winglike in shape. I was very pleased at how well the meaning of his name relates to him as a character. Firstly, his meeting Mareiel allowed her to find her freedom to fly away from the world that constricted her and discover her true happiness. "To have wings" also brings to my mind the image of Alar himself having wings, and thus I occasionally take it one step further and personify him as an angel. Angels are known to be protectors and be unfailingly good- which pretty much sums Alar right up.

In terms of his appearance as a Sim, he and Jân are the ones I'm most pleased with.

It's that time of year again! NaNoWriMo has started, and I've been hard at work on my novel. I'm still unsure whether or not I'll post full chapters as I did last year. However, I won't leave you empty-handed. Today I'll present to you the full ten-page prologue of Tales of Lerathian: The Puppet. In it you'll receive necessary tidbits about the world of Lerathian as well as the even more important introduction to our main characters- Jân, Elle, and Nika. Seeing as how I've only just finished writing this prologue, it does not have any editing done to it whatsoever. I haven't even reread it as I am now about to start working on the first chapter. However, I feel the prologue is of good enough quality to release. I hope you enjoy, and like always, feel free to drop a comment about what you think!
