The Enemy

Oh Goddess, I didn't even know where to begin with Eloril's sudden return! So many questions ran through my mind. Why had Eloril returned? Why did he have an infant with him? Why was this infant most likely of the alien race?

Eloril and I did not even exchange any sort of "Hello". Thankfully, the screaming child quieted down and Eloril started right into an explanation. He had been traveling through some woods on his way back home. When he heard a child crying he quickly investigated and found the infant he was holding. Eloril assumed the child had to be so incredibly sick if its entire body was green the way it was. Although he wasn't sure if the child would last until he made it back here, Eloril had no other idea as to what to do and returned to seek my help. I was the only one here he could turn to.

Reluctance

As you might imagine, the mood has been rather poor around here ever since Eloril left.

It is hard for Elerith and Nadrien to smile. It was so difficult for them to understand what had happened. When they went in their rooms, everything was fine. However, when they came out they found their uncle, who had become so important in their lives in such a short amount of time, was gone and never coming back. I'm sure they feel abandoned. I know I feel that way. I knew Eloril was upset and angry, and I feel terrible for being so hard on him, but I did not truly believe those things would drive him away. I thought after he had time to clear his head that he would come back.

It has never been so painful to be wrong.

Heartbreak

Eloril and I have always been similar- especially in regards to our dreaming and imaginative minds. I'm sure while he was searching for where I had been whisked off to, he visioned that he would arrive in a grand manner and vow to take me back home no matter what he had to do. When he accepted that I must remain here, I saw him thinking of how he would be the most helpful he had ever been in order to make things easier for me. He talked of finding ways to bring in plenty of money and the such.

Unfortunately, reality keeps hitting him hard. Another way we are the same- he also has no skills to be employed in human works nor the necessary papers to allow him to do so. I wonder if he even got proper recognition from the humans to be here at all. As the weeks have passed, Eloril realized there really isn't much he can do to help. Mostly he assists with the chores and keeps the girl entertained. Still, I've never seen his good attitude falter. It seems he knows just him being here is the most important thing.

Brother

For what felt like hours, I stood there thinking I was dreaming. I must have laid down and fallen asleep. The dream of the knocking on the door and my brother in front of me must have come on so quickly that I was now considering it reality. After all this time, why would Eloril be on my porch? Why wouldn't he have sent word before his arrival? Even as he pulled me into the tightest hug, I still could not grasp this was indeed happening. All I knew was that, dream or not, I didn't want to let him go. I'm sure he'll disappear if I do.

Found in Time Chapter Six

So I've finally decided to release the full first seven chapters of my NaNoWriMo novel, Found in Time. I've written more than these chapters and will eventually finish, but since I do intend to have this novel published someday I don't think it would be a good idea to release the thing in its entirety.

Also, please keep in mind when you're reading that I wrote these chapters very fast. There is guaranteed to be a lot of mistakes or areas in desperate need of revision. There are many parts I don't like. It's kind of difficult to go ahead and put these chapters out with them having so much wrong with them, but I still really want to do it. Please leave comments telling me what you like, or if there's anything confusing. Please also keep in mind that the first seven chapters are Part One of the story. Part Two will explain a good portion of background not comprehensively explained in Part One. This may be why it feels as if some things are not properly described. Still, speak up if something seems as if it's completely out there. You might be the one to catch something I've overlooked.

So, without further ado, here's the sixth chapter of Found in Time!

Visitor

A holiday known as Snowflake Day has arrived. More importantly than that, it is also Aravilui, Arluwen, and Amadrie's birthday. While the girls originally wanted to throw a big party, they changed their minds at the last second. We had a quiet celebration in the morning so we could spend the day together before they finally left. When I saw how beautiful and intelligent they all turned out to be, I became so glad. Having three children to look after all at once is certainly one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Honestly, when they were first born I thought everything was going to get so much worse. Despite the troubles, I am forever grateful for these daughters and wouldn't change a thing.

Surprise

With everything that's happened recently, and adding on a rougher than normal pregnancy, I'm afraid I've been at the end of my rope for the past couple days. My patience doesn't last very long, and I'm quicker to snap. I feel a bit guilty for being so tough on the girls, but on the other hand, Arluwen and Amadrie have finally begun to act more responsibly. All of them have actually.

One morning when I just could not be bothered to get up to cook, Aravilui took it over for me. Her first attempt at making waffles ended up burning them. The birds got a good breakfast though. Her second attempt was much better. Arluwen is quick to play with Elerith when needed, and Amadrie has been working on improving all the appliances in the house. It really is a load off my mind when I don't have to spend half the day cleaning.

Guilt

Today was another day off for businesses and schools. The girls were so looking forward to the festival, but of course it was raining again. It's been raining almost every day for the past couple weeks straight, and the mood has been rather gloomy because of it. Everyone misses the sunlight. Lothirien, Aravilui, Arluwen, and Amadrie still remained determined to enjoy the festival though. I told them it was fine to go, but since I didn't want Elerith out in that weather, the two of us would stay home.

To Belong

Ever so slowly, the weather has changed. The temperature has been getting colder and the days have been shorter. Summer seemed as if it would last forever, but the autumn season has finally unseated it. The mass of green leaves are now a beautiful rainbow of gold, red, and yellows. I've always found the changing of seasons to be a fascinating time, so my mood has been good recently. The only thing that has been bringing me down is the nausea that keeps coming in the middle of the night. I have not missed that aspect at all.

Dream House

It certainly is nice to hold a young child again. It already seems like an eternity since Aravilui, Arluwen, and Amadrie were toddlers. Of course, my children have no choice but to let me hold onto them every once and a while. Still, it's not the same. Even though my greatest dream is to return home, I now look forward to my children being born. Bearing them might the reason why I'm here in the first place, but they're also what makes it possible for life here to be enjoyable.

Grandchildren

When Charlie came over the next time, it was my turn to surprise him. I let our conversation go on until he casually sneaked in his suggestion. Honestly, I wish I could have captured a picture of his face when I agreed with him. He was either thinking that he was dreaming, or that he had gone crazy. Charlie had to ask me three times to repeat myself because he couldn't believe it. I almost changed my mind then. How many times was he going to make me say the words that ripped my heart apart more every time they were spoken?

What's Really Best

Charlie has moved up gradually in his work, but has become busier rather than freer with his time. Although he has called a lot, he hadn't come to visit in some time. It was a bit of a surprise when he showed up today to visit Lothi. He was surprised himself to see three more toddlers crawling around the house. I could tell from his words that he thought I was watching some other woman's children, but Charlie eventually realized that they were indeed mine.

Luck?

Even though it took me some time to get into the routine of caring for a young child, I've gotten back where I need to be. In fact, I feel as if I've been more efficient than ever. Perhaps I'm taking too much of the credit, and Lothirien is just a smart child, but in what feels like half the time she has learned everything needed. She walks as if she never knew how not to, and she uses words I hadn't heard from my other children until they were older. Whether Lothi is a step-above or I have grown to be a good teacher, I'm proud of her either way. I suppose it's good that she knows what she needs to with another child already on the way.
