Contains spoilers for Gen One through Three
I ship my own couples hard, and, as such, I come across those kind of songs from time to time that describe certain couples in a way that is so completely them. I have a few that sort of fit for Coal and Holly, but the song above works so well for Amaranth and Ethereal that I just had to share it. For those who aren't aware, the song, covered by AmaLee and Dima, is the first opening for the anime Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. The story follows the main male character, Jinta, as he tries to find a way to put the ghost of his childhood friend and crush, Meiko "Menma", to peace after she suddenly appears before him several years after her death.
Besides the fact that Jinta almost always wears red and Menma is known amongst her friends for always wearing a white dress, the song itself expresses a lot of the core feelings brought about by Amaranth and Ethereal's relationship: the deep bond and wonderful memories they've had since they were young, the intense wish to be together, the dread of life getting in the way, the painfulness of being broken apart, and the refusal to say that's the end of their story. It's a bittersweet and beautiful song, and I love it.
Let me know what you think :)
