New Upcoming Project!

Hello! So, for a while I've wanted to find a way to branch out and grow an audience for my more serious writing without it being shared in my more personal space here with my Sims stories. I've found a place that I think will be great for this- tapas.io! I was using it to read comics when I eventually noticed that one was able to publish their own stories on there as well, and even possibly become partnered with the site depending on the story's popularity. While being partnered would be great, at this point I'm simply excited at the prospect of reaching a whole new audience. A story had already been brewing in my mind, and so I started writing.

The story, called "Devout", follows a young woman in the fantasy world of Mirdal who suffers from amnesia after a mysterious accident out in the woods. To make matters worse, with her is also a young infant she's not sure is hers that she now must care for as the stringent tightening of rules sent down from the monarchy that has declared war on the north leaves her out in the city on her own. Containing drama, romance, mystery, and a gentle touch of magic, it's bound to have a little something for everyone. There currently aren't any chapters available to read as of the moment as I'm waiting for the cover for the story I commissioned to be completed first before I start posting. However, I will post the link to Devout here as soon as it becomes available, and you can view my profile page here. The plan is to post one chapter a week on Tuesdays. Hope you'll give it a glance (^^)

Gen Three- Chapter Eleven

My feet ached slightly from the walk I was not used to. Gilly, Merlot, and I were going to have to talk to mom and dad about a better way to get us all home after school. The start of a new year of education meant something big for us older ones. Seventh grade had us finally departing from elementary school and journeying on to the adventure that was junior high. Merlot was left all by his lonesome then at the elementary, and mom and dad weren't too keen on their first-grader walking home alone. They'd asked us to meet up with him and walk home together, but there was no way this could go on all year. It was such a massive inconvenience for us, and Merlot had to sit there and wait so long that pretty much everyone else had left. Him sitting there alone didn't seem any better than him walking by himself.

"The best part was when it went dead quiet and that random guy started jumping around in the background." Apple recounted merrily.

The walk had at least been somewhat interesting though. Apple was coming over, as usual, and Timber had been nice enough to tag along as well. We'd met up with Merlot, and in the small break we were taking before the trek restarted my cousin and my friend told us about the funny video one of the teachers in their class let them watch at the end of third period as there was time for nothing else.

"I liked the part where that one person yelled about the cheeseburger." Timber laughed.

Gen Three- Chapter Ten

How long had it been since I had felt such warmth? Closing my eyes, I stretched my head back and let the sun slightly burn my face. I didn't care if it pulled my skin a little. I was simply so incredibly glad it wasn't raining again. We thought last year had been bad, but this year was already approaching last year's record when it was only summer! All the weather channels predicted more sunshine to be coming our way, but there still remained too many umbrellas on their reports for my liking.

"Hey, did you finish up your summer homework yet?" I asked Rosey, who sat next to me.
"Yeah. I got the final bits done last night." she responded, lazily kicking her foot.
     "Darn it."
"Love homework that much?" she asked with a smile.
"No, but I've been stuck inside too much lately because of the rain. I'm done with television, video games, and reading. I was thinking we could at least bring your homework out here to work on it in the sunshine. I wish I would have brought mine."
"I'll procrastinate more next time," Rosey laughed, "But I think those two are entertaining enough."

Gen Three- Chapter Nine

The fact that the air brushing against my cheeks and slowly knotting my hair as I zoomed back and forth on the swing wasn't cold pounded my chest with a lively excitement. Back when I was young, well- younger, I hadn't gotten why spring was the reason why people bothered so much more with cleaning and the start of large projects. Now I got it. The feeling of invigoration after the snows had passed and one could go outside without suffocating layers of clothes made one want to actually do stuff. For example, mom, dad, Gilly, and I were outside having a blast being silly as mom and dad did their best to push my sister and I at a matching pace while just a month ago we all lazed about in bed as long as we could hardly wanting to get up to make a cup of hot chocolate.

"You're pushing too fast." dad complained with a large grin as Gilly and I began to go out of sync.
"You're going too slow." mom rebuked back.
"I'm going slower so you don't tire yourself out by trying to match me."
     "You calling me weak, Vivid?"

Gilly and I laughed. We found it amusing that mom used dad's last name to call him out during their playful bantering even if it had been her last name too for over a decade now.

My first thought...that definitely couldn't be her. That was her voice from our now distant past, but how on earth could I think my name fell from her lips once more?

     "Amaranth?"

Yet there it came again. Unsure but desperate to snuff out the possibility as it hurt my heart too much, I slowly cracked open my eyes. When the first thing I saw was white, I swear I lost all my breath.

"E...Ethereal?" I could barely manage to creak out.
"C'mon, bud," she laughed lightly, and my chest fluttered at the sound, "You've had your nap, but it's getting closer to midnight. You don't want to lose out on all your chances to beat Charming in a race before we switch the channel to watch the ball drop."

Gen Three- Chapter Eight

It wasn't confusing at first, waking up. I was warm and comfy in a bed, and I was coming to consciousness after quite a deep rest. Most mornings during vacations started in such a way, and I remembered with bliss that I was on vacation. Christmas was soon, and that meant a lot of fun things were coming up. Parties and get-togethers, visits from family out of town, littering the yard with snowmen, drinking obscene amounts of hot chocolate- I could see more of why grandpa considered the whole time period a holiday.

Confusion, however, did start to settle in for at least a few seconds. My body was so, so heavy in an unusual way. The firmness of the bed made me realize it wasn't mine, and the sounds and smells were way off from what they should be. Cracking open my eyes cleared things up more. I knew the hospital well. There I lay in one of the small rooms in the emergency section- specifically the one near the end of the hall given that I right across from the men's restroom.

I was glad I remembered easily enough why I was here. Something had been wrong with me, I had passed out, and Mr. Mountain had suddenly shown up. Remembering that didn't make me feel glad. Not only had everything most likely been exposed, but the trouble Timber and I were bound to get in was going to be ten times worse given how I'd also ended up like this.

Color My World Short Story #8 Part One

The overwhelming scent of chocolate chip cookies both delighted and repulsed my nose. On one hand, the treats were the most delicious and tempting baked goods to ever waft their smell in my direction. One the other hand, such a scent had been attacking my nostrils for too long that my senses begged me for a breath of fresh air.

"Here, let me get the door for you." Allium offered as I finished rolling up the final balls of dough into the tray.
"We finally made it, Charming. The last batch. I didn't think we would ever see the end of the tunnel." I joked as I slid those last cookies into the oven.
"Yeeeah, I'll be careful next time accepting the request to make stuff for Holly and Mimi's club's bake-sale. Two hundred chocolate chip cookies didn't seem like it would be a lot."
"How does two hundred of anything not seem like a lot?" I had to question with a smile.
"I've always been bad at math," Allium joked along with his trademark smirking grin, "Seriously though, thank you for your help. Since you had a hand in these, the cookies are going to sell like crazy."
"They'd better. Right now, I never want to see another chocolate chip cookie for at least a year." I laughed.
