Exploring Pottermore!

French Class Audio Tracks and Pottermore Update

I think it's really pretty cool when educators, especially those in the textbook business, realize that studying gets boring after awhile and then they take the time to place little things here and there to send a laugh your way. I wasn't really my textbook at this particular moment, but I was on the Deux Mondes (my French textbook) website. I was accessing the audio tracks for an activity in the workbook that I had to do. I restarted my French instruction because I felt as if I hadn't retained enough of the basics, and so I was able to easily understand the conversation between the characters without really having to look at the clues on the workbook page. The audio track was finishing and the characters said something that made me burst out laughing. I had been planning on going onto the next activity, but I had to stop and replay the last bit of the audio track a couple times before I was able to move on. You can access the track here, and skip ahead to the last 10-15 seconds to get to where I'm talking about:

The Twelve Days of Hogwarts

I've been a subscriber to the youtube user MuggleSam for awhile now. The account features a family up in Canada, and stars the two young daughters Sophia and Isabella (Bella). The mom films the girls as they go about doing various things during their day, and most of the videos contain massive amounts of cuteness. As the username implies, the family is a very big fan of Harry Potter, and there are multiple skits that the girls have done using Harry Potter as a theme.

Their most recent video is a song set to the tune of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Sophia and Isabella (mostly Sophia) sing about their first days at Hogwarts, and about all the things that they're not afraid of (like two trolls in the dungeon or five Bertie Bott's vomit flavored beans). It is one of their best videos ever and the girls sing the song amazingly. You can check out their cuteness below:

And you should definitely subscribe!

Earthquake!

I had my first experience with an earthquake today. I'm sure many of you have heard of the 5.8 earthquake that hit the east coast that caused an evacuation in the pentagon, white house, and so on. Even all the way here in northeast Ohio we were able to feel it. Granted, I think if I had been moving around I wouldn't have noticed. However, I was sitting on my chair with my legs folded on the seat too (because that's the most comfortable way for me to sit). I was playing Sims on my new Alienware m17x when I realized that my chair was rocking back and forth. The legs are a bit uneven so it tips to one side if I move, but the things was, was that I wasn't moving at all. A quick look to my left and I saw that the shade of my lamp was shaking. I turned around to look at the rest of my room, but nothing else really seemed to be shaking. Still, even though I couldn't see anything else shifting, I still felt movement coming from somewhere.

Intense Bidding Pays Off

So four years ago approximately half-way through my sophomore year of high school my grandpa, Pepe, decided that he would buy laptops for myself and my younger brother. I was ecstatic. At that point I had my sister's old Dell laptop that she had abused so much that the monitor was half broken off, it ran terrible, and the adapter out had recently stopped working. I had been really upset when I had first gotten it because the deal had been that Connor and I would would get the new laptops my parents had ordered, and our sisters would keep their old ones. However, once the new ones came in they changed their minds and said they would give the new ones to my sisters and Connor and I would get the hand-me-downs. Unfair.

The Happiest Girl in the World

...is what C-ute's new single "Sekaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko" translates out to. I'm a couple days behind posting this, but on the official C-ute youtube channel the MV for the new single was posted! You can watch it below:

Now I wasn't quite sure what I felt when I first heard this single by itself as a radio rip with no video to go along with it. I mean, I liked it, but I wasn't quite sure how well I liked it. All I could do was wait for the MV to come out to really make my decision about the song. Finally I get to say that this video made me enjoy the song a lot more! It's very much the typical, low-budget looking, H!P MV, but at the same time it has caught my attention so much that I find myself watching it multiple times a day.

But to get more detailed let us take a look at each thing separately.

Early Entry and Drama

So besides the welcome post, this is my first official entry on my blog! Huzzah! I was originally going to talk about the things below in the welcome post, but then I decided to keep things separate. The first thing I'm going to talk about is something that I'm really excited about:

That's right! I got early entry into Pottermore! For those of you who don't know what Pottermore is, you can watch the announcement by Jo herself over at youtube. Although, even though I've watched this video a lot, I still don't fully understand how one will exactly interact with the site. We are told we'll be able to shape the story, but how exactly will that work? I really don't have a clue, and I don't think anyone really does save Jo and the developers of the site. Yet I think that's part of why I'm so excited. There's so much mystery and buzz about what Pottermore has to offer, and that's why people are so interested. Right now all I can say is that I can't wait for my welcome letter (email) to arrive. Once I get access I'll post some stuff here so you can see the basic gist of what the site is like, but only a little, so that the excitement of discovering it for yourself still remains.

Welcome

Hello there and welcome!

For a while now I've been watching other blogs, and a little while ago (a week or so) the desire popped into the back of my mind that I wanted to start a blog as well. I knew that a lot of people were probably weren't going to pay much attention to it, but this is something I want to do more for myself more than having lots of people read what I'm saying. So this blog was formed, yay!

I choose the title "The Little Moments of My Life" because that's what most of my posts will be about-- the little things that make up my day. Most will be (for lack of a better word) insignificant feelings, thoughts, ideas, opinions, and the such that I myself will likely forget before the week finishes. However, I believe it's these seemingly tiny non-influential moments that help to define the bigger ones, and more importantly, who I really am as a person. Therefore they are just as important in their own way, and should have their chance to be heard. Of course, I'll also post about the big things that shape my life because those can't be ignored either.

So I hope you enjoy readings about these moments that will shape my life, and I hope you'll stick around!
